Natural remedies and Homeopathy for Yeast in Dogs is the natural way to heal your dog. Yeast infections in dogs are quite common, and for the dog, is a very annoying condition. I would say it regularly turns up in the ears, and you'll observe ear flapping (shaking the head from side to side) or the dog scratching the ear with the hind paw, and sometimes if really bad, the dog will rub their ear on the ground. - Self soothing: Biting or licking paws.
- Skin changes: The skin may appear pink, red, or sore, and may thicken ('elephant skin') or have hyperpigmentation (darkly pigmented skin) over time. Skin may have scales and be crusty, or may have flaking skin.
- Greasy coat: The dog's coat may feel greasy.
- Hair loss: The dog may lose some hair.
- Discharge: Dogs with yeast infections in their ears or paws may have a brown discharge.
- Bad odour: Dogs with yeast infections in their ears may have a bad odour. Overall the body may smell musty or as I've heard from many dog odours,"like Doritos"!
- Ear infections: chronic or recurrent otitis externa or ear infection
A skin swab or skin scraping can be performed by a vet to confirm yeast infections. A positive diagnosis with conventional treatments would lead you into the world of anti-fungals or possibly steroids, both of which are suppressive and palliative which will mask the symptoms only to reappear down the track again.
